2012 Fundraiser

Thank you for your interest in allowing Cedar Grove to partner with your school in doing a fundraiser that provides your students and families with an environmentally friendly, useful product that they can use right away in their garden. As we all know, with some fundraisers, parents, grandparents and community members feel pressure to support the school through the purchase of items that they wouldn't normally buy and are often times way over market value and not needed, thus winding up in a landfill. Through a new program called Bring it Back, Watch it Grow, we're hoping to close the recycling loop for local schools and youth organizations.

Bring it Back, Watch it Grow

We are piloting a new program which will allow schools in close proximity to our Cedar Grove facilities, through their PTA, Green Team or other avenue of their choice, to pre-purchase compost at a significant discount and then sell that compost to families of students and the broader community.

How the Program Works

The school would receive 10-packs of vouchers from Cedar Grove (on consignment- no upfront costs) worth 1 yard of compost. The voucher rate is equal to the price of one yard of compost or approximately 10 bags of compost but can be applied to any Cedar Grove compost purchase (at the facility, deliveries or online orders). Vouchers could be redeemed Monday through Saturday throughout the spring, summer and fall at the facility. Students would then take orders for compost vouchers ;from their families, friends and neighbors.

The program would be a waste-free fundraiser that heightens awareness about Cedar Grove's connection to the local, urban organics recycling effort, promotes green gardening and highlights the importance of environmental stewardship.

Once the vouchers are distributed, any unused vouchers could be returned, and Cedar Grove would collect a discounted rate for any vouchers used, allowing the school to raise approximately $4 per voucher sold.
