master gardeners

Master Gardeners have been integral to Cedar Grove Composting's success since Cedar Grove's humble beginnings. This is fitting, given that the first Master Gardener program was established in Seattle in 1972. These horticulturists, often devoted home composters, are some of Cedar Grove's best customers.

Cedar Grove Composting offers Master Gardeners:

Premium Compost Made to Exacting Standards - Cedar Grove makes incomparable compost through a controlled scientific process, using aeration, temperature control, and lengthy curing tested through almost 2 million yards of production. See Make or Buy Compost.

Innovations in Composting - Cedar Grove Composting continues to demonstrate leadership in advancing the art and science of composting, implementing its first Gore In-Vessel System. See Technology: Making A Difference.

An Alternative to Fertilizer - Plant growth trials and other field testing conducted at the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture showed that the use of Cedar Grove Compost as a soil amendment or mulch increased crop yields significantly more than adding fertilizer.

Product Certification - Cedar Grove Compost consistently meets the "Class AA" threshold standards, guidelines that define compost suitable for any use, including vegetable gardens. See Certification and Product Quality.

Nutrient Content - Cedar Grove Compost contains significant amounts of both major and minor nutrients required for healthy plant growth. In addition, Cedar Grove Compost stores nutrients supplied by organic fertilizers and gradually releases them for steady plant growth. This slow release action reduces the need for frequent fertilizer applications and prevents runoff of nutrients into surface water.
